Munich! Bavaria! Some very nice cars are built there. People all over the world love them, but this car doesn’t come from a car manufacturer, it’s coming from a university. The prestigious Technische Universität München. So designed and built by students, but a real car, meeting all safety regulations, with the name of MUTE. It will be built this year, tested next year, and shown at the IAA (the motorshow in Francfort) in September 2011.
A very small car, it has a wheelbase of 82.7 inches, the length being 132 inches. Width is 60 inches, height 51.2. With such a modest size, it’s a strict 2-seater. Performances will also be modest, as the electric motor makes only 15-kW (20-hp), but with a low weight of 1100 pounds (batteries included), top speed is 74-mph. We hope the high torque of the electric motor will help to provide more than adequate accelerations, we’ll find that out next year.
